Back in December, just before Christmas, there was a Lunar Eclipse that happened to occur on the winter solstice. The HCAS went out and did some observing, it was pretty awesome, although cold. Even though it is a bit old, I just wanted to share the picture, keeping a short post after the two long ones I just did. Click to enlarge, you can see some background stars too, which are pretty cool.

That's pretty cool!
Nice pic. I was looking forward to this, went outside at the appropriate time...clouds, clouds everywhere, couldn't see a damn thing.
Good picture. Will be reading more.
Great picture. I was standing on an ocean side cliff up here in Alaska when the lunar eclipse occurred. It was a beautiful and strange sight.
That day was awesome. I'm interested in solar eclipses too, do you have pics of those? Looking forward to your next posts!
Thanks for your interest everyone, I'll keep it coming. AS, clouds are the noted enemy of astronomers. AA, that sounds awesome. metal, I don't have any eclipse pictures, and not sure when the next one will be, but I'll post about it when it happens. I am thinking of doing a post on purchasing telescopes next.
very beautiful :D
Wow, it looks so pretty. I wish it was close to our part of the country, it must look really radiant.
I remember standing outside when it happened. So worth it.
