It's a Big Universe

Today's post is a little bit of a cope out. I saw this video on another blog that I follow and just had to share it, if you haven't seen it already. It's the Known Universe, as mapped so far. Amazing, props to Leviuqse.

In some sadder news, the Space Shuttle Discovery's last flight is scheduled to take place on February 24 at 16:50 (4:50PM) Eastern time. It's been plagued with delays because of external tank problems. We don't need the tank blowing up on lift off. Hopefully all will go smoothly with this somber occasion and NASA can continue to look forward with new technology and new missions.

Now for the lighter side, CATURDAY!

This past summer, Maryland had a notorious stinkbug up rising. It wasn't that much fun, but our cats had fun with them. Anyways, here we are in the second half of winter and they still pop-up every now and again, especially in warm places like houses. This morning I found this sitting outside my door.
It's a little dead stinkbug. I am pretty sure that one of our two cats put it there. And probably not the one I showed you last week, I am pretty sure that this is Bella's doing. I think she is either bribing me or threatening me to give her more treats. Just look at this cute little calico face of evil.

I am actually going to be sharing this video on my facebook page! Thanks for posting it, I think more people need to be made aware of the actual scale we are working in with this dimension. I'll definitely be following from here on out!

Those types of videos and documentaries always make me feel all mixed up, a combination of awe and horror. I don't know why.

how can you say the universe is large if you don't know its size in comparison with the cosmos.

you got yourself a hardworking cat, you gotta treat her to tuna

Really mixes things up for me in a distantly emotional kind of sense, seeing the scope of the universe in that light. Great blog btw!
